This one is a joke. The numbers behind it are invented for comic effect, not measured, estimated, or researched — nothing on this page tells you anything true about you or about any animal. Every other calculator on this site is built to give you a number you can actually use. This is not one of those.
What this calculates
The same nonsense as the fight calculator, arranged so you can see the whole spread at once. Instead of picking one opponent and getting one number, this lines your total up against every animal on the list as a percentage. It exists separately because the two are funny in different ways — one is a punchline, this one is a slow scroll down a list where you are doing extremely well at the top and extremely badly by the bottom.
How it works
Your three lifts and bodyweight add up in pounds. Each animal has the same invented fight score used by the other calculator, and your total is expressed as a percentage of it. The list is sorted from the chicken upward, so it begins flattering and ends the way it has to. Nothing is measured, nothing is sourced, and the ordering is the only part with any claim to being sensible.
Worked example
That same 1,125-pound total reads as roughly 6,250% of a chicken, 1,875% of a house cat, 118% of a chimpanzee, 22% of a gorilla and 4% of an elephant. The elephant figure is the honest one, in the sense that it is the only one where the true answer and the joke answer point the same direction.
Common mistakes
Reading the percentages as though they describe muscle. They describe a number we chose. If you want the genuinely interesting version: animals do not scale strength the way intuition suggests, because muscle force goes with cross-sectional area while mass goes with volume — which is why an ant carrying many times its bodyweight is unremarkable physics rather than a superpower, and why very large animals are proportionally weaker than small ones despite being able to flatten you without noticing. The second trap is comparing across measurements that are not the same thing. Bite force, lifting capacity, dragging capacity and striking force get quoted interchangeably in these lists, and they are four different quantities measured four different ways, often on one sedated animal decades ago. A crocodile bite figure and a gorilla lift figure cannot be put on a shared scale without inventing the conversion — which is precisely what we did, openly, rather than pretending the shared scale already existed.
Common questions
- Why is this separate from the fight calculator?
- Because the jokes are different. One gives you a single absurd verdict to screenshot; this one is a list you scroll while your self-image adjusts. People share them for different reasons.
- Why does an ant beat me pound for pound?
- Scaling. Muscle strength rises with cross-sectional area, which is a square, while weight rises with volume, which is a cube. Small things are therefore proportionally very strong and large things proportionally weak. It is geometry, not heroism.
